1. Introduction

Mama+ (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a maternal health application designed to support women through pregnancy and motherhood. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal and health information with care, transparency, and respect.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using Mama+, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

When you create an account we collect:

Full name
Email address
Password (stored as a cryptographic hash — we never store your plain-text password)

b) Health & Pregnancy Data

To provide core app features you may voluntarily provide:

Pregnancy details (due date, gestational age, number of pregnancies)
Vital signs (blood pressure, weight, temperature, heart rate, blood glucose, etc.)
Appointment records (dates, care-provider notes, reminders)
Symptoms and personal health notes you choose to log

c) Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect limited technical data to keep the service running reliably:

Device type and operating system version
App version
Crash reports and error logs
Feature-usage analytics (aggregated and anonymised)

We do not collect your precise GPS location, contacts, camera roll, or microphone input.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data solely to:

Create and maintain your account
Provide, personalise, and improve the Mama+ features you use
Send appointment reminders and health tips you have opted into
Detect and fix bugs and security issues
Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal or health data to any third party. We do not use your health data to serve you advertisements.

4. Sharing of Information

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: We use Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication and database storage. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data-processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority.
Business transfer: If Mama+ is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Your consent: We will share data for any other purpose only with your explicit prior consent.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which is secured with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). We apply role-based access controls so that only authorised systems can read your health records.

Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your device locked when not in use.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and health data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
Export your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect lawfulness of prior processing)
Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority

8. Children's Privacy

Mama+ is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

9. Third-Party Links

The app may display links to external websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their policies before sharing data with them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
